Energized Online Community and Social Media Professionals Buzz About the Online Community Unconference

2 June 2009

Conference attendees share their excitement and ideas for the fourth annual Online Community Unconference.

San Francisco, CA – June 2, 2009 – Forum One Networks, a strategy and research group specializing in online communities, prepares for their fourth annual Online Community Unconference in Mountain View, CA on June 10th.

“The Online Community Unconference is the perfect opportunity to connect, network, present challenges and get ideas and feedback from the other smart and creative people that attend the event,” says Bill Johnston, Chief Community Officer for Forum One Networks. “The downturn in the economy has caused many companies to look to their online community and social media teams to provide lower-cost methods for engaging their prospects and customers. The Unconference is the best place to get new ideas from other professionals who share similar challenges.”

The interactive nature of the “open space” event begins well before the actual Unconference day.  Attendees have already begun suggesting session topics on the event wiki, are buzzing about the event on Twitter and blogging about the event, “Do YOU Unconference?”.

There are currently over thirty possible topics for the agenda, including:

  • Online Community Metrics
  • Lessons Learned: Pitfalls and Best Practices in Community-Building
  • Leveraging the "Wisdom of the Crowd" to Energize Your Community
  • What NOT to do in social media for social ventures: a question of focus & impact
  • Making a product roadmap for a young community: how do you pick what to do?
